Yes! Finally another LoGOz gig was upon us and actually our first indoor public performance since March! These are uncertain times people and there was slight apprehension in the air as we approached the venue that is the rather swanky Tyne Bank Brewery Newcastle.
With our Covid face gear in place the Three Maskateers, myself, Paul and Carlos, loaded our gear into the venue. It was cool to be greeted by promoter Allan Scorer who with infectious enthusiasm said we were bang on time to soundcheck ASAP. Sadly no Kieran on Bass tonight so we slipped back into the old 3 wheeled machine with ease. A sweet ‘No Win Situation’ soundcheck and all was good.Nice to see people rolling into the place in good time. But even better to see familiar faces happy to see us again, although tearing their hair out at the Table service app having to be installed on all phones to get drinks ordered! But such is the modern world folks. Settling on a pint of St Mungo seemed a wise choice to wet the whistle and get this show started!
With an early finish in place we hit the stage around 7:15pm to familiar set opener ‘ Long Time Dead’ before ripping straight into ‘Frankenstein’. Felt good to be back. It had been a good 6 weeks since we’d been in the same room so it was cool to still feel that enjoyable intensity that comes with playing Live! As always gigs are over way too quickly as we closed our set with ‘Anti-Social Media’ plus our instrumental crescendo riff out! But a great response from very healthy Sunday populated pandemic crowd lifted everyone’s spirits.
Next up were One Million Motors a band I hadn’t heard too much about but definitely one I’ll be hearing a lot more about in the future I’m sure! We really enjoyed their alternative indie melodic punk rock! Stand out track for me was the sublime ‘B Movie’ song as well as a rousing cover of The Clash classic ‘Clampdown’! Top stuff lads.
So a great night all round and top marks to all the staff with safe social distance measures in place. Also to the top sound guy and again to Allan Scorer for putting this cool event on. Thanks to everyone who came to see us! Much appreciated. Support Live music people. Safely of course. It can be done.
